If you want to be part of history, now is the time and Virginia is the place.
Between now and November 4, volunteers will be needed in unprecedented numbers to put Barack Obama in the White House, Gov. Mark Warner in the U.S. Senate and Jim Moran, Judy Feder and Gerry Connolly in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Working together, the Obama, Warner and congressional campaigns are creating a voter contact effort unlike anything that's ever been attempted in Virginia, organizing right down to the precinct level.
Want to be a part of this effort? This is where you begin.

For the first time in many years, Virginians can help elect a Democratic president and at the same time, elect a second Democratic U.S. senator. Along with that we have a great opportunity to win two additional Democratic seats in Congress. And just as important, we can set the stage to pick up the additional six seats we need in the Virginia House of Delegates and elect a new Democratic governor in 2009.
It won't be easy. To do all that we have to build a very strong team of volunteers and activists and do the hard work that wins elections.
If you would like to be a part of making history in Virginia, get in touch with your precinct captain or any member of the Hunter Mill District Democratic Committee now.
It's going to be an amazing fall!

Please note that there will be a primary election June 10.
There will be contested elections in the 8th, 10th and 11th Congressional Districts, so that means that all Hunter Mill precincts will be involved in the primary.
Turnout is expected to be low, especially in the 8th District, so every vote will count -- probably more than in any election in a while.
Please vote and please tell all your friends to vote June 10.

Delegates to State Convention Chosen |
|
|
|
Delegates from Hunter Mill District to the congressional district and state party conventions have been selected. No caucus was necessary, as the number of filings for delegate spots were sufficient to fill slates without the need for a vote. All who filed were accepted as delegates.
Congressional district conventions will be held May 17. Locations and times can be found on the calendar in the right column of this page.
The state party convention will be June 14 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. |

Caucus/Convention Season Starts |

The February 12 presidential primary was just the first step in the process of nominating a presidential candidate -- at least here in Virginia.
Here is what happens next:
The nine magisterial districts, including Hunter Mill, will hold caucuses on April 19, where we will select delegates to the congressional district conventions and the state party convention.
At the congressional district conventions, which will be held in May, delegates will select 54 national convention delegates and 11 alternates, apportioned between Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama. At the state convention in June, an additional 18 at-large delegates, 11 party leader and electred official delegates, and 2 unpledged add-on delegates will be selected. All, except for the unpledged delegates, will be apportioned between the candidates.
We'll have additional details about the process for filing as a delegate in the next couple of weeks, so check back.
